Experience the wonder of Hawaii’s humpback whales on a smooth, scenic sail along the Waikīkī coastline. From December through April, these majestic creatures migrate to the warm Pacific waters to breed, calve, and play — offering unforgettable moments for all ages.

Relax aboard our spacious, stable catamaran and take in panoramic views of Diamond Head and the Honolulu skyline. Our knowledgeable crew shares fascinating insights about whale behavior and Hawaii’s marine life as you watch for spouts, tails, and breaches.

Enjoy tropical cocktails, beer, wine, or soft drinks from our full premium bar while soaking up the sunshine and ocean breeze. Whale sightings are guaranteed — if you don’t see one, come again free! Morning sails are 2 hours; afternoon sails are 1.5 hours of pure ocean magic.

Check-in Details

  • Departure Time: 8:00 AM, 3:00 PM
  • Arrival Time: Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure (by 7:40 AM, 2:40 PM) to allow time for check-in and boarding.
  • Location: Kewalo Basin Harbor, Slip F28, just minutes from Waikīkī and Ala Moana.
  • Check-In Process: Look for the Hawaii Nautical sign outside our slip.
  • Parking: Paid parking is available at Kewalo Basin Harbor. We recommend arriving early to secure a spot and walk to the slip.
  • Boarding: Boarding closes 10 minutes before departure. Guests arriving late may not be able to join the tour.

What to bring

  • Reef-safe sunscreen (no sprays, please apply before boarding)
  • Sunglasses and a hat for sun protection
  • Reusable water bottle (to help reduce plastic waste — we also have water onboard)
  • Optional: Binoculars for spotting whales

  • Do I need any experience?
    No experience is required! Our friendly crew takes care of everything so you can relax and enjoy the sail and whale watching experience.

  • Are drinks and food included?
    Yes. Enjoy complimentary tropical cocktails, beer, wine, soda, juice, and water from our full premium bar, along with light snacks served on board.

  • Can children join the tour?
    Absolutely! This sail is family-friendly and safe for guests of all ages. Life jackets are available for everyone.

  • Where does the tour depart from?
    We depart from Kewalo Basin Harbor, Slip F-28, just minutes from Waikīkī and Ala Moana.

  • What time should I arrive?
    Please check in 20 minutes before departure to allow time to park and board.

  • Is parking available?
    Yes. Paid parking is available at Kewalo Basin Harbor. We recommend arriving early to find a spot and enjoy the harbor views.

  • Will I definitely see whales?
    Humpback whales are commonly seen from December through April, and sightings are guaranteed. If no whales are spotted, you’ll be invited to join us again free of charge on another whale watch trip.

  • What should I bring?
    Bring reef-safe sunscreen (no sprays), sunglasses or a hat, and a reusable water bottle. Optional: camera or phone for photos and videos... don’t forget to tag us @hawaiinautical!

  • What if I get seasick?
    Our catamaran is large and very stable, which helps minimize motion on the water. If you start to feel unwell, our trained crew is happy to assist and will do their best to make you comfortable throughout the trip.

Cancellations

If your tour is cancelled due to the captain’s discretion and/or weather, then you will receive a full refund or option to re-book your tour on another date based on availability.

Guests cancelling their tour reservations 48 hours or more prior to departure are eligible to receive a full refund or can elect to re-book the tour on another date based on availability.

Trip Protection

For a small fee Trip Protection can be added to any booking allowing cancellation up to just 1 hour prior to departure! Trip Protection can be purchased at check-out.

Guests not purchasing Trip Protection and cancelling their tour reservations less than 48 hours prior to departure are not eligible for a refund and will forfeit 100% of their payment.
