Step into history and experience Diamond Head at your own pace. This self-guided narrated tour takes you along the historic crater trail, while sharing the rich history of Hawaii; from its volcanic formation and Native Hawaiian traditions, to its military role during the early 1900's. Learn how ancient Hawaiians considered Diamond Head a sacred location and how the US Military used Diamond Head for their first line of defense in protecting Oahu's southern shores during World War II. You will experience panoramic views of Honolulu while learning about Hawaii's cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Includes complimentary use of a handheld device, a tour map, and earbuds you can take home with you, giving you the flexibility to explore on your own schedule while enjoying a rich, guided experience.

Diamond Head State Monument Hiking and Parking reservations MUST be made at gostateparks.hawaii.gov/diamondhead
Admission fee is $5.00 per person, and if driving into the crater, it is an additional $10.00 to park. Parking is LIMITED.

Itinerary

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED Diamond Head State Monument Entry and Parking reservations MUST be made prior to your visit date. Visit gostateparks.hawaii.gov/diamondhead for all entry and parking reservations.

Upon arrival, check-in at the Diamond Head Visitor Center to start your hiking experience
This is considered a "moderate 1.6-mile hike." ** Be sure to dress casually with comfortable shoes, hats, and sunscreen.
*Allow approximately two hours for the hike. Please bring water for each hiker.*
It is not recommended to start your hike from Waikiki. Please take "The Bus", taxi, a Diamond Head shuttle, or a rental car to the Diamond Head crater.

Highlights

Diamond Head Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from 7:00AM to 2:30PM. The last tour is at 2:30PM. Audio devices must be returned to the Visitor Center no later than 3:30PM.

No tours are available on Christmas and New Year's Day.
